Hi, I’m Kazayra Miranda Gonzalez , currently based in Los Angeles, California. I am a illustrator, printmaker and painter, I mostly focus on capturing my experience as a queer mexican artist navigating the bureaucratic borders of land, gender, sexuality and the immigrant experience and relationship with what “home” is. No formal training, I am mostly self taught, I learned to draw and paint as a child and never stopped. Making artwork has helped me navigate my trauma from growing up undocumented for over 20 years.

Honored to be a part of the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 co-hort of the Queer Ancestors Project in San Francisco where I learned about printmaking. I also had the opportunity to work alongside Katie Gilmartin with mentoring the co-hort of 2020-2021.

My work has been exhibited with the Queer Ancestors Project at STRUT and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. You can also find some of my prints archived at The GLBT Historical Society in San Francisco and at the Berkeley Bancroft library archives.
